Are you seeking fitness consulting? If so, I am certain you have come to the right place. I have been at this since 1992 helping runners and athletes of all backgrounds and abilities get to the next level. My only regret is that I started this website back in the late 90s at the advent of the internet. I started running at the age of 15 in 1992 and formed RunDreamAchieve in 2011. So, I've been fortunate in the fact that I have been able to help reach athletes all around the world thanks to this website. In addition, I decided to take RunDreamAchieve fitness consulting to the next level in 2019 with the R.D.A. YouTube channel.
I create new video content there each week helping to share some tips and strategies that helped me to eventually break the 2:20 marathon barrier. My goal as a performance coach here at RunDreamAchieve is to help athletes to use leverage. I have known far too many athletes working far too hard and missing their fitness goals. Remember, it takes smart training, not necessarily hard work to get legitimate results. Do you know any highly educated people who are broke? Why is that some people who have dropped out of school make more in a month than some PhDs and MDs make in a year? Leverage.
My goal with this post is to share some of the resources available to you here. In addition, discuss some of the reasons why fitness consulting is so vital if you really want to be great at what you do.
What Does a Fitness Consultant Do?
A fitness consult works to help their clients get better results by using leverage. They assist in finding out what are the leaks in the preparation of the client and works to correct these flaws. A common mistake I see many runners making is that they run too many of their weekly miles or kilometers too slow. So, I look at their preparation history and work to correct how they are training for their races. A fitness consultant also is a mentor and guide. My role is not to get in the way of my clients preparation.
That being said, I certainly work to plan the training the athlete is to do. The athlete has the tough job in following the plan that I create. So, it takes consistency on the part of the athlete to become successful and more efficient at what that they are aiming to do. Fitness consulting is also psychological. I am a sport performance coach. So, I understand that to get results in any pursuit, it takes a massive amount of belief and focus. In addition, you cannot rush fitness. It takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks for the body to adapt to any stress load being placed upon it.
How Much Does a Fitness Consultation Cost?
My aim is to not to break the bank account of my clients. There are fitness consultants who charge far more than I do. For example, some charge several thousand dollars per month. The average cost to work with a fitness consultant ranges from $30 to over $125 per hour. Again, it all depends on who you are working with. I have numerous options available here at rundreamachieve. For example, one-on-one zoom consultation calls. In addition, we have monthly fitness coaching for runners available for athletes seeking monthly coaching.

I have also created running courses and training plans here for those seeking to take their running to the next level. Again, one of the most important variables that go into fitness consulting is helping people to work smarter. Our rundreamachieve monthly coaching has three options. $27, $97 and $147 USD per month. In addition, clients can cancel their subscription at anytime. Also, can re-join the coaching at anytime. You can learn more about our monthly fitness coaching by clicking on the button below.
LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR PRIVATE, MEMBERSHIP COMMUNITYWho is the Consultant for Physical Fitness?
A legitimate fitness consultant should have extensive background in health, wellness and physical education. I have over 30 years of experience in all three of these areas. More importantly, have studied kinesiology, anatomy and physiology and sport performance. I am a big believer in working smarter rather than harder. Your time is priceless. So, if you are going to prepare for a race you have to be mentally and physically prepared. My role as your consultant and mentor is to get beyond the barriers you think you have.
One of the biggest hurdles for most athletes is to stop doubting themselves. Fitness cannot be rushed. The running courses and training plans that I have here are 4 months in length. 16 weeks is plenty of time to prepare for any distance effectively. Again, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks for the body to adapt to any stress load being placed upon it. Is your goal to run a sub 3 hour marathon? You will not achieve that in a matter of 4 weeks. So, you have to think strategically. How can I effectively set up my training to get the best possible result at the end of those 16 weeks?
What Qualifications Do You Need to Be a Fitness Coach?
My job with rundreamachieve fitness consulting is to ensure this takes place. First, I seek out to learn the history of the athlete I am working with. What percentage of their weekly mileage are they training at or below their goal race pace? If the percentage is too low then I can quickly determine why the athlete is not performing to their standard. Of course, we have to also look at other factors that go into performing at world-class levels. How much sleep are my clients getting? Are they working on speed development? What pace are they running their long runs at? How long are their tempo runs? How often do they mentally train to do what it is they are seeking to do?
A fitness coach should have formal education in fields related to fitness, wellness, physical education and psychology. I always seek out fitness consultants that have life experience. Of course, if they have a college degree in a field similar to a field I am interested in that is an additional benefit. So, fitness coaches should have extensive background in fitness, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology.
Do they have success record to back up their fitness consultancy? Can they walk and the walk and talk the talk? Are they able to start and finish a goal or do they quit? So, qualifications are important but do they have consistency? I seek out these types of traits in those that I have hired over the years. I worked for 2 years with Lisa Rainsberger who won the Boston Marathon when I served with the US Army world class athlete program (WCAP).
What is the Difference between Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach?
A personal trainer is focused more on preparing a fitness routine for the athlete. A fitness coach is focused heavily on the psychological and planning processes of the client. So, performance coaches should have a combination of expertise in both of these career fields. I worked as a personal trainer prior to enlisting in the Army back in 2000. So, have background in weight training and preparing training plans for my visitors to rundreamachieve. A fitness coach is heavily focused on getting the client to learn rather than on teaching.
Again, it is important for athletes to learn what they are doing wrong and to do the opposite. So, fitness consulting helps to make already motivated and successful athletes to be even more motivated and successful. More importantly, to get better results by working in new ways that they get what they want, faster. No, the goal isn't to rush the process. The process is what is not seen. We all focus on the event (the end goal) and think athletes that make it look easy are simply gifted. Talent that doesn't work will be beaten by hard work that does. So, you cannot rest on being talented. Are you lacking in talent? Well, then you have to make up for it with your work ethic.
Fitness Consultant Online
I, too, was not very talented. What got me to run 5:19 mile pace for 26.2 miles? Consistent action from 1992 to 2007 when I ran the 2:19:35 marathon. I was only one of 64 men in the united States of America in 2007 that broke the sub 2:20 marathon barrier. Consistency is absolute essential if you want to be great at what you do. Average and good take work too. That being said, greatness involves proper planning and a strong belief in delayed gratification. A trait that not enough people have.
Rundreamachieve fitness consulting is about how to get the best out of the athlete. In addition, to get that athlete to work smarter, use leverage and quicken their path to success. So, I work to find out what the athlete has done in the past that has not gotten them their desired result? Was it something psychological?
Did the athlete have a habit of going out far too aggressively in the early stages of their past races? Were they hydrating poorly in their 10K to marathons? A major mistake runners tend to make is sipping rather than drinking enough fluid in their races. You may be able to get away with that in a 5K but not in the longer races.
CHECK OUT OUR RUNNING COURSESHow Much Does Online Coaching Cost?
My focus with rundreamachieve fitness consulting was to create the most options I could for potential visitors to rundreamachieve. For example, people people want to work one-on-one with me. I do provide private consulting zoom calls which is $150 per hour. Of course, that may not work for many people on a budget. I have other athletes who come here who are seeking a running course. So, I created them for athletes seeking to run a faster half marathon or marathon. There are also training plans for those athletes seeking a 16 week training plan. A one and done training plan they can follow for 4 months in preparation for their races.
Also, we have private, monthly fitness coaching for those athletes who are seeking to hire a coach. There are three options there at $27, $97 and $147 per month. Again, these prices are very affordable as compared to other fitness consultants who charge far more than I do. In addition, I have an athletic background that rivals some of the top fitness consultants as well, respectfully. Of course, I don't write that to sound cocky but I am confident in what I do. I know what it takes to run fast and to overcome setbacks. You are more than welcome to visit the about page if you would like to know more about my background.
Can I Get in Shape in 3 Months?
Yes, you can certainly get in great shape in 3 months. Remember, it isn't just about the physical fitness activities you put in each week that count. It is what are you doing in the other hours of your day after your workout on the track or roads are complete? I stress this all the time to the athletes who come to the RunDreamAchieve YouTube channel. Again, your focus should always be how can I get the results I desire in the fastest possible time frame? Are you training to break a 4 hour marathon? Well, you need to sustain 9:09 per mile or 5:41 per kilometer for 26.2 miles or 42.2 kilometers.
What if 5 to 10 percent of your weekly mileage is spent at or close to these efforts? Do you think your chance of success will be high? What if the other 90 to 95 percent of the mileage you are running is spent running at 12 minute mile pace? yes, you will be able to hold sub 4 hour marathon pace for a portion of the race. That being said, the chances of you holding it for the entire duration is very slim. Why? You are not spending enough time each week practicing training at or below sub 4 hour marathon. I discuss the right tactics to use in the Sub 4 Hour Marathon Mastery course, if interested.
Is an Online Fitness Coach Worth It?
Fitness consulting online can be much more affordable for many athletes as opposed to in-person. In addition, it is also much easier for the athlete to be able to login and easily chat with or send a question to a fitness consultant online. Of course, there are some athletes who would prefer an in-person, local coach that they can work with directly. My goal has always been available and approachable to my clients here at rundreamachieve.com. The private, running community available here is an easy way to access me.
It is very easy to send a chat message to me or ask a question. I, in turn, create videos and written content answering your specific fitness and racing questions. Online coaching also is a huge help if you are in another part of the world and desire to have access to your coach that may be in another part of the world. So, we can easily talk via Zoom, chat or e-mail. It is much easier to consult with a performance coach in this way.
Closing Thoughts
So, fitness consulting is about guiding, coaching and mentoring the athlete to reach their goals in timely fashion. Yes, it takes time and consistent action. The people that visit rundreamachieve are already highly motivated and driven individuals. That being said, they are also professional seeking excellence in what they do. They may be seeking to lose weight or run a specific time in their chosen race distance.
In addition, they may be aiming to earn a Boston marathon or Olympic Trials qualifying standard. Perhaps, they want to run a 10K under 35 minutes or break the sub 2:30 marathon barrier. My goal is to ensure I assist these winners to get even better results then they have gotten in the past. So, definitely check out the resources available here at rundreamachieve.
