The Pre-Race Expo
Myrtle Beach Marathon attracts runners from across the nation due to its flat course, making it perfect for runners seeking to set a personal best time (PR). Additionally, running it in February allows participants to simply stand on the beach and admire the sunrise while collecting seashells without being bothered by people.
On Friday morning, runners arrive for the Health and Wellness Expo at Grande Dunes Marina Inn to collect their race packet and interact with local vendors. Following that event, runners head over to Dave & Buster’s in Broadway at the Beach for a pre-race party where they can pick up free samples while also playing an endless amount of video games.
After finishing their race, runners can celebrate in Pelicans Ballpark at a post-race celebration featuring music, food and beverages – the perfect way to commemorate finishing this marathon! Following this, an awards ceremony honoring top male and female finishers across each age group takes place; afterwards guests can take advantage of an open bar and buffet for additional enjoyment.
Myrtle Beach offers some of the finest seafood in South Carolina, but if you want something other than American fare after running the marathon, there are numerous restaurants and bars around to provide alternative cuisine. Italian Village features an expansive menu featuring Italian specialties while Zen Kitchen’s sushi bar may provide something different altogether.
If traveling with family to watch a race, make sure that a plan has been arranged for meeting up afterwards. Some roads may close for the event and create confusion for those not knowing exactly where they should go.
