What is the Longest to Run to Prepare for a Half M
Your goal will determine the length of the training run that best prepares you for a half marathon, so as a beginner looking to finish, 10 miles should be enough to build endurance and give confidence that you can complete the distance.
For runners attempting to run their half marathon in an ideal time, longer runs may be needed for training purposes. An ideal distance would be 13-16 miles; however, newcomers may find acclimating difficult.
No matter your running goal, it is essential that running is enjoyable and safe. Always consult with a doctor or trainer prior to beginning any new workout regimen, and take time for recovery between each workout in order to prevent injuries or overtraining. Be mindful of any road closures during Carlsbad Marathon!
