Capesthorne Hall

The Cheshire Half Marathon is an open road half marathon event held through beautiful countryside of Cheshire. This race offers runners of all abilities an opportunity to break their half marathon personal best on an idyllic course that begins and finishes outside Capesthorne Hall, an 18th Century stately home with stunning gardens. Chip timing ensures every finisher receives a bespoke themed medal while marshals and spectators provide additional support on route to Capesthorne Hall’s stunning gardens for breathtaking finishing locations.

At the starting line of the half marathon is an event village offering refreshments and free parking; disabled participants are fully accessible. Additionally, spectators are welcome to cheer on runners throughout the course, while there will be live music playing near the finish line.

Aid Stations

At each race, water stations will be available to keep runners hydrated during their run, and food and drinks will be offered at the finish line so they can refuel and celebrate together with fellow runners. In addition, medical teams are present to offer assistance and ensure everyone’s safety.

This race is known for being among the fastest in the country, making it ideal for anyone hoping to set a personal best (PB). The course follows flat rural roads through Withington Green and Lower Withington; passes Jodrell Bank before culminating with a sprint finish outside Capesthorne Hall.

The course is well marked and there are multiple parking areas close by the event. Cheshire boasts an extensive public transport system; Macclesfield railway station is within several miles; trains departing London Euston can reach Macclesfield within 2 hours.

The course is open to runners aged 17 or over with an entry limit of 5,000 participants. Registration can be done both online and at the event itself and participants will be issued a wristband to wear during their race participation.

Cheshire High School on Higgins Road marks the starting line for runners participating in this race, before they head west through residential neighborhoods of south Cheshire before turning left onto Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and running for four miles before taking Brooksvale Avenue, Mt. Sanford Road, River Road back north before arriving back at Cheshire High School track for the finish line.

At this event, participants can participate in both a 5K and 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run featuring entertainment along the course, multiple aid stations, split times and split times for split times. Furthermore, runners can join forces and run half marathon 2-person relay races with friends!
