The Challenge At The Abu Dhabi Marathon

The heat and humidity of the middle east may be a challenge for all you cold weather runners.

My hats off to you. The fastest I ever ran for the marathon in the heat was 2:40:02 and the best I did on a cold day was 2:19:35.

The runners will Participants will start the marathon outside the ADNOC headquarters on the Abu Dhabi corniche and finish at

Accuweather is stating runners should expect temperatures ranging between 66 to 67 degrees F (19.4 celsius) when the race begins.

The temps will be around 70 degrees F when the lead men come into the finish line. The dewpoint for the race is projected to be around 61 F or 16.1 celsius at 6am when the race begins.

Obviously, these are temps are much higher than ideal for most marathoners. If you don’t mind warm and humid conditions this is a great marathon to consider next year.

If I wasn’t a cold weather runner I would pick this as a top marathon to go after a new personal best. Dubai, a close second.

The Abu dhabi marathon will start at the Adnoc headquarters on the beautiful Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Runners will then head toward the Emirates Heritage Village. They will then run toward and around Marina Mall onto King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street on to Qasr Al Hosn.

The final stretch of the race runs through Mina Zayed, before returning to the Adnoc complex for the finish.

Other Features of The Abu Dhabi Marathon

The Abu Dhabi marathon will also feature shorter races that will get kids and families excited to compete.

The will be a 2.5 kilometer race, a 5K fun run as well as a 10K for participants not as interested in competing in the 26.2 mile distance.

It doesn’t matter if you are pushing a buggy,  compete in a wheelchair, walk or run, the abu dhabi marathon weekend will have a lot to offer.

The marathon will have a race village which will have live entertainment, children’s activities as well as race race coverage.

There will be runners from all over the world participating including athletes from the United Arab Emirates and other neighboring Arab countries.

If I wasn’t more of a cold weather runner this would be my top marathon pick in the world.
