The Status Quo Revolution
Let me first start by including a humorous story from MJ Demarco's book, Fastlane Millionaire, one of the best books on time that I have ever read, don't let the book's name fool you.
The “MTV Cribs' Episode That Never Happened
Host: “Today we visit 22-year old Big Daddyhoo and his 8,000 square-foot-crib here on the beautiful Atlantic coastline live from sunny Palm Beach, Florida…so, Big Daddyhoo, tell us about your rides”
Big Daddyhoo: “Yo Dawg, we gotz the Ferrari F430 over there with the 22-inch rims, the sick Lamborghini Gallardo over there with the custom 10-speaker stereo and for those nights when I just wanna chillax with the ladies, the Rolls Royce Arnage does my do”
Host: “So, Big Daddyhoo, how can you afford all these gorgeous rides? And this mansion on the beach? It must have cost more than $20 million!”
Big Daddyhoo: “Yo let me tell you dawg, Big Daddyhoo got rich chilling in my mutual funds and popping phat money in my 401(k) down at my Win-Go Wireless Job.”
Suddenly, you hear a record screech off the turntable.
Silence…
What inspires you?
Working for a paycheck, having no real leverage of your time or building a business, gaining control of your time?
I hope someone reading this will take what is written seriously.
I hope that the videos I have placed within this post will absolutely crush the idea that the only reality for you is the reality someone else created for you since you were young.
My aim is that they will aid you as they have aided me to break the matrix that surrounds us.
Let me first say before I get chastised that I don't think there is anything wrong with a job.
We need skilled tradesmen in this world but we can't act as if we have unlimited time and lets face it, no one gets financially rich by trusting in mutual funds, 401Ks and retirement pensions.
Most people will retire only to get another job because they can barely make ends meet.
The object of life is not be on the side of the masses, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane – Marcus Aurelius
Im searching for motivated people who want to share what is truly important in life and it isn't money although you can make endless amounts of money if you wish by what I have written about here on rundreamachieve.
All I want is to challenge you to think over the things you have been taught in your life.
The status quo revolution is coming.
It starts in people who don't believe in what they have been taught, that the only way to earn an income is to get good grades, obey, by all means don't fail and walk across that stage with a piece of paper that you gave 4 years or more of your life so you could go out and get a job, to work for someone else.
I bought into the idea for the majority of my life so I am just as guilty as anyone else.
The difference is I didn't end my education when I crossed that stage.
I am an enormous advocate for education but I also realize countless students are going to school to prepare for a job who are leaving school with six figures of debt.
It took me 12 years to pay off my undergraduate and graduate debt.

My brother and sister in law are still paying off college loans, so forgive me if I don't sound too enthused over spending 10-20 years of ones life relying on a job just so one can pay back loans they had to take out to get earn a living.
How many millionaires are there who didn't even finish high school?
There are countless examples so this reality that formal education is the only way is not the reality I accept anymore.
I payed the price and it even took a trip to Afghanistan to get free of that debt burden.
Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you – Carl Sandburg
I believe in good and bad debt, college loans is most certainly not good debt.
The real learning came from self-education, reading literature that went totally against what I thought was the proper path.
I learned things that frustrated, motivated and uplifted me to do and ask more out of what others have asked of me.
I fully understand that I may lose some readers by what I am writing.
I totally relate to how some people may be totally against what I am writing but I'll tell you why I am writing this.
I have been a worker all my life, 37 years on this earth and only until a few years ago did I really start to think over my life as well as others.
Time can never be replaced. We had better start spending it doing what we love, with those we love and with the knowledge that our time is in our hands, not someone else's.
Our time is a gift from God yet we waste it on reality television shows, entertainment, doing work that isn't what we love.
We freely give it away in order to pay a bill, to live in a house, drive a car.
People in the 1800's owned businesses. The idea of the salaried worker came about thanks to men who knew how to control the system.
The industrial age worked for a very long time.
It doesn't work for the individual with the entrepreneurial mind, one that realizes that the reality we have been taught isn't necessarily the reality we have to accept.
The Imbalance Between The Have's And The Have Not's
My strong feelings stem from the injustice that goes on in the world.
I question why is it so many can get up at an hour they don't want to be up at, go somewhere they don't want to go, work for someone that does not treat them with respect or accept a work environment that is not positive, supportive of their needs?
Does the idea of someone telling you how you should dress, where to be, what to say encapsulate you?
Is this the only option people have?
I don't think so and I'll tell you why.
Entrepreneurs don't fall for this trap. The majority of them were employees at one time and simply got fed up. They realized that either they decide to make a change or the same routine will continue to occur in their life.
People have to turn off their televisions and think outside the box.
I didn't run 2.19 for the marathon distance by half-assed efforts. It took enormous commitment, unwavering focus in the face of many failures.
I am not under the delusion that running my long-term goal of 2.15.00 is not going to come about by sitting on the couch watching America's Got Talent.
I am fully committed to building a business revolved around love of others and helping people get back their health, time and control of their finances but people have to take action as have I.
It is scary to do things we fear, to try something we are skeptical about.
I have failed more times then succeeded even with this site.
I've spent over $10,000 of my own money in revisions, messing up and correcting code, internal errors, you name it. There is no half-time in building this.
I'd rather spend the next five years learning what others won't to enjoy the time others will not have leverage of because television, life's distractions and entertainment got in the way.
It is very easy to fall into the trap and I don't want anyone to accept that.
I'm not going to, if that means sleepless nights researching, writing, creating, so be it.
Is Work All There Is To Life?
Wait for the alarm to go off so you can get up, brush your teeth, put your work clothes on to go off to be away from those you love for the majority of your day, be stuck in traffic to and from your place of employment, listen to disgruntled co-workers the entire day?
I am afraid we have become too caught in making a living that we have forgotten about living life to our fullest extent.
We all need to stop acting as if we have unlimited amounts of time and trading it all away just to pay off the car bill, to pay the mortgage.
The bank is in control of home owners.
The worker must trade their time in order to have the home. It is not an asset but a liability.
Our time (the real asset) is traded for the liability.
Workers don't even get payed first, someone else does. Your own work is taxed.
Please someone tell me the justice in that?
The most important thing in life, regardless who you are is your faith, family, health and time and all take a back seat due to the fact that we must give so much of our most precious resource, our time, in exchange for a paycheck, to pay bills.
We exchange 8, 10 or more hours per day in favor of a paycheck that only arrives every two weeks.
The ultimate definition of insanity is to prostitute your Monday through Friday for the paycheck of Saturday and Sunday.~ MJ DeMarco
We can only work 24 hours in a day and people need sleep to function.
We even have to pay to get to the job.
Our pay itself is taxed before we even receive it.
5 for 2, a negative 60 percent trade is what we accept.
If you loaned someone 50 bucks and they gave you 20 back in return would you think that was a fair trade?
How come we can be so tolerant of freely giving away our time instead of researching ways to gain control of it?
Why hasn't this been more sought after?
Have we become so entertained and distracted to be television watchers, consumers to stop to think about what does put something into your bank account, financial education, alternative means of income generation?
Work can be a beautiful thing when it is something you truly enjoy doing, but it involves a time trade and you had better be doing work that truly matters.
Time cannot be replaced. You can't bottle it up and sell it.
The rich and the poor have the same amount of time in their day.
Are you going to spend it entertained watching television, something that has never helped anyone fill their bank accounts with money or gain fitness or seek out what others won't?
When was the last time a television reality show helped you gain leverage of your time?
Let's be honest, the majority of people watch it to be entertained or distracted from the so-called realities of life.
There are people in this world who realize that income generation can occur regardless what time it is, where they are at. They are sleeping and are getting payed, swimming in the ocean, getting payed.
This idea that income can only be brought in every two weeks is asinine.
It is not only untrue, but a fallacy.
The reality is not enough people have been taught outside of driving to a job, regardless if they love or hate it, in order to earn income so they can pay their rent, mortgage or college loan.
To work the majority of your life so you can retire when your 65?
Who told you that is supposed to be your reality?
My reality?
Sorry jack, I'm not buying it and I'm not afraid to lose sleep and fail in order to break that idea.
I already know money can be earned when one is sleeping.
I didn't learn that in 12 years of high school, 5 years of undergraduate studies or even in two years of graduate school.
In fact, formal education taught me nothing about financial literacy, it was self-education
Formal education will make you a living, self-education will make you a fortune – Jim Rohn
This Is Deep
I'm a distance runner but the status quo and I have never been friends.
I can't accept that this is all there is to life, spend the majority of my time away from those I love so I can pay bills, to have someone else own my time and not have leverage of it.
Does it make you comfortable to know that someone other then yourself has control of when you get payed, of where you have to report on a daily basis?
Is all there is to life is working for 30-50 years only to retire old?
Is the real reward to work 8 hours a day so you can get promoted and spend 12 hours or more at a job when it is the time you should be spending with your loved ones that is more important.
The reality is so many accept this as the only way.
There is no other choice. You go to school, to study to be a salaried worker in a trade of ones choice to be employed by someone else at a job
Is the reality to work until your 65 to retire older?
Why do so many accept this and why aren't more asking how to do it while they are young?
It is as if it has been engrained in people to rely on a 401K and a pension that may not even exist 5 to 10 years down the road, then to think of any other alternative ways to live.
Don't say ‘I can't afford it'.
Think ‘how can I create ways to afford it'
What would life be like if you didn't even have to think about the price of something you wanted?
Money is endless, time is not so you had better wake up to the true reality, that what you have been taught isn't necessarily the entire truth.
I think those types of thoughts.
I'm an employee but I work on my own time because it is what I love doing, uplifting, caring for others is what motivates me to live.
This message isn't to belittle the salaried worker.
God knows I cherish, love and understand employees as I have been one but as the days go by, the more I learn, the failures I endure and overcome, only teach me that there is more to this life then trading my life away so someone else can pay me.
I don't write to change closed minds.
If you own one then this message isn't for you.
It is for the guy or gal willing to listen to it and think about it.
I can tell an athlete until I am blue in the face that you don't run a sub 2 hour half marathon, sub 4 marathon or sub 1.07.30 half marathon by dreaming about it.
If the athlete isn't willing to work, then they won't reach their potential.
You have to be extremely hungry to go after tough goals and to challenge what your teachers, parents, co-workers, peers have taught you.
There is always something scary about the unknown and life is too short not to take action.
Seth Godin once said,
I don't watch television, I don't go to meetings and I do things that I fear
Think Outside The Box
You can dream but you had better be willing to take action. If you want to run faster, invest in a coach like one of my athletes did.
She took action and ran 14 minutes faster then she has ever run for the marathon distance.
I coach another man who is 52 years old and has since qualified for the Boston Marathon twice and broken the 3.28 marathon barrier.
The athlete who is willing to invest in themselves will create the reality people dream of and all can do it but we all must act.
We can't sit on the sidelines and wish we could do what we wanted, go where we pleased.
You have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone.
I hate public speaking but I invite the opportunities as an army officer to practice.
It is uncomfortable but sitting back and not taking action will not get me over this ‘idea' that it should be something that I should fear.
I risk upsetting visitors to my site who may take what I am writing the wrong way but I also risk not voicing my opinion and helping someone change course in their life based on the same decision.
This is for those who will and those who won't listen, for those who will roll their eyes or accept life as it is.
The alternative is someone else will do what you won't and will get what you want because they were willing to do what you didn't.
Think that one over long and hard.
They overcame their fear and dealt with their skepticism.
Don't accept reality for what you think it should be simply based on what you have been taught your entire life.
There are days when I write, when I spend endless amounts of my own free time digging into computer code making this site the best it can be, it is as if the Holy Spirit is at work in my soul, like God telling me,
Son I gave you life to live, not to be enslaved
I don't know how else to put it.
All my life I have I have witnessed the differences between the well off and those who never seem to get true control and freedom of their time.
The consumption of life is spent for a 5 for 2 trade.
5 days of work servitude for 2 days of abbreviated rest only to repeat the same thing, week after week, month after month, year after year.
If you are a salaried worker, it is the government that gets payed first, not you.
Who is the the most heavily taxed individual?
The employee.
This Is Run – Dream – Achieve
My passion is fitness, nutrition and running but they pale in comparison to wanting to help people.
Folks can learn to earn income outside of working a job if they choose.
The majority, is safe to say, will not take action.
What they have done all of their life is sufficient. They are happy trading their time for money. A safe, secure job with benefits is totally acceptable.
I understand.
That being said, there is a difference.
Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows – Michael Landon
I want you to think that quote over. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about it.
I also think about it daily because I have to drive by a cemetery on my way to and back from work.
We have to stop acting as if we have unlimited amounts of time, that trading it for a paycheck that only arrives every two weeks, is the way to truly live.
Who controls your time?
The employer, the job or yourself?
I want you to think that over as I have.
I will end here.
I hope I have not worn out my welcome. It is nearly midnight and I have lost all sense of time at this point but I don't care.
This matters as do you.
The status quo revolution lives in every human being. Our creativity and zest for life should not be snuffed out like a candle void of oxygen.
No fire can breathe and exist without it.
Desire is the same way.
Don't expect it to be easy to lose weight or to get a personal best, build a business that generates income for you but also don't expect it to be created out of thin air.
Everything takes work, time and commitment.
The opportunity is there, you just have to be open to it.
It is going to hurt, suck, frustrate you but I can promise you, if you are persistent, if you want it, there isn't anything in life you cannot achieve.
I learned by breaking the 2.20 marathon barrier that there isn't anything in this life that one cannot achieve, as long as that person is willing to do what others won't long enough.
That being said, it should not be the monetary goal of anyone to have money simply to have it knowing so many others do not.
One can have money and still be emotionally poor.
No amount of money can bring back a life or give you back your time.
If you hear anything I am writing, hear that.
It is to gain leverage over something far more powerful than money, one's health and time.
Be motivated for that, be willing to give up sleep for that.
The status quo revolution begins with you.
