Runner Course Strategies

This post is going to be lengthy because building a runner course is not something I take lightly. It is a personal duty and obligation of mine that I create content that is going to impact someone else's life.

runner course

I have been writing and creating mostly free content here at RunDreamAchieve for over 7 years. A runner course is something my wife has been telling me for years to create. “You have so much to offer and have the experience to back it up”.

Why not create a runner course for 5K to marathon specialists seeking to run faster, gain confidence and get better results? I suppose this was something that was destined for me to do. I've been running since I was 15 years young and am 42 years young now. It's been 27 years of hard work and effort.

RunDreamAchieve Academy

RunDreamAchieve Academy was created in late 2018. I launched the Sub 3 Hour Marathon Pro course on 30 December 2018 just before the new year. It is an exhaustive runner course for athletes seeking to run 2:59:59 or faster for the marathon distance. It took over a month to build and covers the exact strategies I used to go from 2:43:36 to 2:19:35 for the marathon.

The same tactics I used to drop my half-marathon from 1:10:29 to 1:07:06 are also covered. This is far more about athletes pain points than the times I have run. I continue to train and compete to this day but I get far more satisfaction helping other runners get results.

What Should A Runner Course Cover?

It depends on what runner course topic that is going to be covered. I am currently working on a new running course on how to break the 4 hour marathon.

There are millions of marathoners who are in the 4:59:59 to 4:00:00 range. I already know the exact strategies needed in order to run a marathon under 4 hours. Why not share the knowledge? Do these runner courses cost? Yes. It is an investment in yourself. The majority of the content in RunDreamAchieve is free and has been for over 7 years.

In fact, I continue to produce new content on the site several times a week. What I have not done but plan to do in 2019 is to start making videos. There are athletes, people that are overweight, business executives, newbie runners that need my advice. If I neglect doing this I am not holding up to my part of the bargain.

People Don't Care How Much You Know….

….until they know how much you care. That is a powerful quote from Zig Ziglar.

This isn't about my running. It is about providing solutions to pain points other athletes around the world are dealing with. How do I run a faster marathon? Why can I run 15 miles of my marathon at race pace and fall apart the last 11 miles? How do I complete my first 10K?

There are endless questions to be answered. The reason I have now begun creating a runner course is for this reason. I've competed at the national and world-class level. The expertise is there and I plan to overdeliver my services and time to creating various runner courses in subject matters you need more.

Feel free to leave a comment below this post and let me know of some topics you would like me to cover. I definitely listen to my readers and value your input. My goal is to create a new runner course each month of the year in 2019.

I am currently in business school working on my MBA at Purdue University. In addition, I work full-time and am currently running 50 miles per week which will rise toward 80-95 miles per week leading into the end of the year. This is not going to be easy which brings me to a quote I remind myself of daily.

The Subconscious Mind Cannot Tell The Difference…

between reality and imagination. That quote is from Billy Mills. Billy is the last American male to win a gold medal in the 10,000m at the Olympic Games. We all can do far more than we are asking of ourselves. The question is are we? The average American watches 5 to 6 hours of television per day.

Can we adjust some of our free time to focus more on our health, timing our workouts to fit our schedules? Can we adjust our weekly training regiment to get better results with less work? Is it actually possible to run a sub-2:20 marathon while working a full-time job? If you have the guts and the focus to do something you will make it happen no matter what.

The biggest reason I was able to drop my marathon from 2:43:36 to 2:19:35 was due to believing it could be done. There is no test an exercise physiologist can give an athlete to test their willpower. We know so little about how powerful our mind really is.

They can test our lactic threshold and run us to exhaustion on a treadmill but no exercise physiologist can test the mind. Dr. Randy Wilbur, pictured behind me in the picture above, a world-renowned exercise physiologist, cannot even do that.

How does an athlete go from being able to hold 6:14 per mile for 26.2 miles to 5:19 per mile? This is a massive time drop. I visualized dozens of times a day just as Billy Mills did.

It Begins In The Mind FIRST

Your focus and what you intend to do in the future is going to be reliant upon you creating what you want in your mind first. It has to become reality there before it can become reality in real life. You are more than welcome to visit my about page if you'd like to know about my background.

I simply believed I could do it. I've also experienced failures just like any other athlete. There are ups and downs to this sport. You don't create a masterpiece without first goofing it up along the way. Committed people make things happen.

You cannot half-ass your efforts and expect to make your dreams a reality. I'm off my soap box. I just want to see you surpass what you think you are not capable of doing.

Why Choose A RunDreamAchieve Runner Course?

Leverage.

Leverage simply means doing more with less. Here in America the status quo is do more, work hard. The result? People are stressed out, overworked, underpaid and in debt. Did you know 78 percent of the working population here in America is living paycheck to paycheck?W It is honorable to work hard but you must also work smart. There is another major reason why I wanted to create a runner course here at RunDreamAchieve. Quality over quantity. I know this a topic many runners think abo

More mileage doesn't mean better results. I would rather run 60 miles per week and earn a Boston Marathon qualifying time then run 130 miles and miss the goal. It should not be a bragging right to say you ran 100 miles last week, respectfully.

What percentage of miles did you put in at or below goal 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon race pace? Have you practiced at the speeds you dream about racing at? How much of your weekly mileage are you running well above your goal pace? It is very easy to run easy. It is something different to run a minute below your goal race pace.

This is where commitment comes into play. We all will avoid pain and run toward what brings us pleasure. If you want to drop weight, run a new 5K PR, compete in your first marathon or run a sub-2:40 marathon you will have to get uncomfortable.

Our runner course selections will continue to grow. A big addition to RunDreamAchieve in late 2018 was the creation of the The RunDreamAchieve Academy and RDA Shop. These two resources are available for athletes seeking a runner course or 5K to marathon training schedule.

Plan Your Work And Work Your Plan

I got over this in detail in the Sub 3 Hour Marathon Pro and will certainly reiterate in future runner courses. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. To run a specific time at a specific pace you need to train in a specific way. You need a plan.

The runner courses and training plans I have built here at RunDreamAchieve have race pace strategies built into them. They cover the exact strategies some of the world's top coaches taught to me.

The training methodologies that we will be covering in upcoming runner courses will teach what elite-level runners do to improve.

The fact that you are on this site tells me a lot about you already. You read this far. That also tells me you are committed to learning and are coachable. These two traits are what distances other runners merely interested from those that are fully committed.

What Is Your Why?

You better have a strong why if you want to succeed in this sport. Do you really want to run your first marathon in 2019? Will you cut out some of partying and poor diet habits to make that a reality? Do you really want to run a sub-2:30 marathon? Do you know the level of commitment you are going to have to make to make that a reality?

Our Why has to be something we are continually thinking about in order to make our dreams a reality. I saw 2:21:59 on the clock in my mind in training while I was still a 2:43:36 marathoner. I thought about that all the time. The work and miles were being done and put in…

….but I was still a 2:43 athlete. The Why is what kept me going when I was still somewhat unsure if I could pull it off. You have to have faith in your training plan and the level at which you are willing to follow that plan.

What Is This “WHY”?

We hear about this so-called “WHY” all the time. Why have I continued to write free content on this website for over 7 years (at the time of this writing)? I was committed. Interest was not something I was focused on. Interest would have never gotten me under the 2:20 marathon barrier. Commitment did.

Interest doesn't propel me to write about the runner course topics that will be discussed on this web property. Commitment is the reason. Interest is running once a week and taking the rest of the week off due to responsibilities i.e. the mortgage, kids, the job, the boss, the hours worked.

Commitment will find a way no matter what. Let this post be a reminder to those of you still wondering if investing in a RunDreamAchieve runner course will be worth it. I'm fully committed to working to ensure my students and visitors to this site get results.

I'm fed up with seeing far too many runners working hard and getting less than what they deserve. Results in this sport don't come specifically from working hard. They come from working smart. RunDreamAchieve runner courses are going to help athletes to start using leverage. It is one of my favorite words in the english language.

What are some runner course topics that you would like to see more of here on RunDreamAchieve? Leave a comment. There are nearly 500 posts on our archive page you can view, we have 5K to marathon training programs (click on “Training Schedules” in navigation menu) for beginner to advanced-level runners.
