On Cloudflyer Review
The on cloudflyer is another superior running shoe for athletes seeking a shoe with durability and cushion. There are many runners such as myself who like a lightweight but legitimate trainer to wear during middle to long training runs. The shoe only weighs 9.8 ounces for a US size 9. So, you are getting a shoe with On's patented CloudTec technology providing incredible cushioning. The shoe also is available for both men and the womens on cloudflyer is perfect for female runners.

Shoe technology has drastically improved since I started running in 1992. I was wearing a pair of Adidas Adizero (3-5K shoes) when I ran my personal best of 2:19:35 for the marathon. I wish I would have been wearing the type of shoe technology that is contained within On Running shoes. The on cloudflyer also comes in wide. So, it may be a welcome site for runners seeking more toe room.

Of course, there normal width version of the on cloudflyer may also work for many runners but may not for others.

The on running cloud flyer shoe is 4 mm wider than the regular width model type. So, you have a ew version that provides a bigger toe box and more room for your toes and feet. In addition, the mesh upper of the shoe provides a comfortable ride with each stride you take. Also, if you have had issues with bunions over the years the extra room in the shoe will help you run more effectively.
The on cloud flyer shoe is stylish and comfortable seeing it is a wider shoe. The shoe also provides a great deal of cushion and stability. It is also a very durable shoe perfect for middle to longer distance runs. The heel clouds developed within the shoe also will ensure you run more economically throughout your run.
Is On Cloudflyer a Stability Shoe?
Yes, the on cloudflyer running shoe is a legitimate model for stability. The midsole carbon plate and external heel counter helps the runner with each stride movement. Also, it provides exceptional cushioning helping the athlete to remain comfortable throughout their run.
One of the drawbacks many runners seem to experience is rocks stuck within the cloud pods of the shoe. Of course, this may affect athletes significantly but something you may deal with when running in theses shoes. So, do your best to run on a surface where there are a great deal of rocks present. No one has time for rocks stuck on their shoes during a race or workout.
The midsole of the On Cloud flyer contains On's technology called Helion foam including CloudTec pods. In addition, the shoe features what On calls “Speedboard” within the midsole as well. So, you are getting a shoe with exceptional flexibility and overall firmness for the athlete. What I love about the brand is their commitment to helping runners perform at the highest possible level.
Which On Cloud Shoe is a Stability Shoe?
The on cloudflyer 2.0 is most definitely a shoe focused on providing stability to the runner. The density of the shoe is what provides the stability due to its midsole density differences. Also, it provides additional support to the forefoot and heel.
Again, you have to be wary of getting rocks stuck underneath the shoe as you are running. The shoe is lightweight so you'll still feel fast during your training runs along with the durability so many runners require.

Run faster throughout your training week
A major problem I see many runners making is running too many miles or kilometers each week too slow. Remember, to recruit more fast twitch muscle fibers you have to train at faster, anaerobic efforts. Again, the key is to teach the body to burn fat at race pace and to conserve carbohydrates. Also, to get that goal race pace that you are going after to feel more like a tempo run rather than an all-out effort.
The best middle to long distance runners are running around 40 percent of their weekly volume at higher, anaerobic efforts. No, this isn't easy and you won't grow to this type of fitness overnight. I always tell my athletes that it takes between 3 to 4 weeks for your body to adapt to any stress load you are placing on it. So, you can't be in a rush. Fitness and adaptation will occur but you have to be patient enough to see it happen.
Run longer tempo runs
The longer you can train at your anaerobic threshold the better. Also, we race right around our tempo effort. So, the longer you can train at 86 to 88 percent of your maximum heart rate the better. Again, the problem for most runners is pace sustainment. So, the goal with the training plans, running courses and my coaching here is to get athletes to train smarter rather than harder. You already know how to work hard.
How many hard working athletes do you know who don't always get results? So, it isn't about the volume you are doing as much as it is the quality of the work. Quality matters and you can't continue to put in heavy, anaerobic efforts without recovery.

Slow Down on Easy Days
I know it isn't easy to jog on recovery days. That being said, if you want to take your running to the next level you have to slow on those easier days. There are only so many times you can stress the body before you received diminished returns.
So you have to focus on all the other fundamentals that go into running a fast time. Of course, one of those is ensuring you have the right shoes on your feet like the on cloudflyer. There are some runners who need 24 hours of recovery between hard efforts. The smarter athletes will give themselves 48 hours.
Focus on Your Speed
The recruitment of more fast twitch muscle fibers will help you to run more economically. So, speed development is critical to help your overall goal race pace to feel easier. One, vo2 max workout should be completed once per week. Your vo2 max is your body's maximum oxygen uptake. So, you are running anywhere from around 96 to 100 percent of your maximum heart rate when training at these intensities.
Again, maintaining race pace longer than your competitors is key. The only way to do this is to train at very high, anaerobic efforts. Remember, it takes between 21 days to 4 weeks to adapt fully to any specific training intensity you are running at. So, the benefits of the hard work you are doing today is going to be seen several weeks from now. Patience is key.
