This outsole is constructed with Frixion rubber that's tacky enough for muddy terrain. Also, features 7mm lugs for extra grip on uneven trails.
Is the Shoe Waterproof?
La Sportiva is known for its sustainability efforts, so it's no shock that their latest shoe is waterproof. Not only that, but the Cyklon also functions as a runner's dream thanks to an integrated gaiter. The gaiter sheds puddles like no other. And what better way to make a splash than with an eye-catching design that absorbs sweat while looking good?
The Cyklon is not only waterproof, it features La Sportiva's FriXion White outsole for extra grip. This super sticky compound offers just the right balance of durability and grip. In fact, I've never worn a better outsole on trail running shoes. Also, they were even tough enough to last through an 83 mile run with only minor heel slips. Although this shoe may be one of my more expensive purchases ever, its performance makes it worth every penny spent.
How Deep Are the Lugs?
The Cyklon's sticky FriXion rubber and deep 7mm lugs make it well-equipped to tackle any terrain. From dry rock, wet rock, buffed singletrack, mud, snow, gravel and off-trail scruff, the shoe felt sure-footed and planted. Thus, providing confident climbing and running over varied terrain.
Additionally, the Cyklon outsole features a graduated lug height to provide side bite when climbing in. Also, out of mud, yet also provide forward traction on firmer trails. As such, these shoes are best suited to trail running rather than fell running.
It's true that La Sportiva lugs aren't designed for deep mud, but they can still be used by most. If you're worried about this, we recommend sizing down one half size from your usual La Sportiva size. Doing so allows for a more personalized fit and will allow you to get the most out of your trail running experience. Alternatively, purchase a gaitor in order to prevent debris from getting inside your shoes.

La Sportiva Cyklon Cross Gtx Review
La Sportiva Cyklon Cross GTX is an incredibly versatile shoe designed for off-road training and competitions in wintertime. It has a waterproof gaiter that keeps out snow and mud, as well as a breathable GORE-TEX membrane which also blocks water out.
The midsole foam is on the firmer end of the spectrum, helping you keep your foot planted when running over rocky terrain or technical trails.
