The 10k event is a mixture of box anaerobic and aerobic qualities. The athlete needs to be in great shape in order to finish this race in the fastest possible time. Of course, you can train to run a 10K in a matter of only a few weeks. Also, you can start and finish a 10k without even training. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this. The reason being is you want to be in the best physical and mental shape you can be in when preparing for a 10K.

An average time over the 10 kilometer distance will vary from athlete to athlete. The vast majority of people can run a 10k race around 50 to 70 minutes. The key to running fast over any distance is training at, near or far below your goal 10k race pace. You may be more focused on the mile, half-marathon or marathon training. Regardless, you need to always focus on getting race pace to feel easier and more controlled. The big problem for many athletes is they are focused on volume rather than on quality.

Remember, running 100 miles a week too slow will only make you an outstanding long, slow runner. Is your goal to run 10 kilometers in a specific time? If so, how often are you training at, near or far below that goal race pace you are aiming for? What percentage of your weekly mileage are you running aerobically? If the answer is over 90 percent perhaps you need to make some changes in how you train. How many miles is a 10k is asked often by people who live outside of the united States of America. I would for anywhere from 60 to 80 minutes. Of course, this is going to vary from athlete to athlete. There are athletes who are genetically gifted and could run maybe under 40 minutes in their first attempt. You may find a smaller percentage who could break 34 minutes their first try. There are others who would start much slower than this. So, it all just depends on the athlete. How many miles are they running and what paces are they running them at is the question.

In addition, how willing are they to continue to persist and stay committed. The sport of middle to long distance running takes immense dedication and attention to detail. You can treat it as a hobby and get hobby results or seriously. The only limits in this life are the limits we place on ourselves.

What Does Running 10k Do to Your Body?

Training for 10k races can help strengthen your immune system. You also really need to be paying attention to your nutrition. I recommend ingesting vitamin C, vitamin D3 and zinc to further strengthen your immune system as well. Yes, running helps to make you strong but heavier training can also weaken your immune system. So, it is very important to also consider taking vitamin supplements. The faster you train the more free radicals and heavy metals build up in the body.

I would also highly recommend research glutathione. Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant and yet very few middle to long distance runners know anything about it. It is essential that you keep your cellular health working at optimal levels. It is very difficult to get glutathione from your diet. So, supplementation is very important to ensure you keep your glutathione stores at healthy levels.

Is it Safe to Run 10K Every Day?

Yes, it is safe to run a 10k per day if you have built up the legitimate fitness in order to do so. The fitter you become the more automatic running becomes. It is not fun when you are not in great aerobic shape. We all have to start somewhere. So, the key is to not get discouraged in the early phases of your training. It takes time and patience to get into great aerobic and anaerobic shape. The athlete who wants to run a quality 10K should first focus on building a strong base of mileage. Furthermore, focus on building easy miles first and then move into specific training.

What I mean by specific training is you are training at much faster speeds. Speeds that are at, near or far below your goal race pace you are aiming for. You can do strides on your easy days without building up any significant lactic acid. What is great about strides is you can focus on speed development and form. The key to running fast over short and long distances is staying as relaxed as you can at race pace. Also, you can practice running relaxed during easy days as well.
