Ruona sees running the new Bay Bridge as both a daunting physical challenge and spiritual pilgrimage, taking place inside an ancient 163-year-old prison rather than its usual chaotic atmosphere.
Come experience a race like no other with Corrigan Sports and Oakland Running Festival's unique race experience of running along the Bay Bridge's recently opened pedestrian path!
Location
Oakland Run Co is producing this ultra-local race that spans the Bay Bridge; an exclusive half marathon designed by them and guaranteed to sell out quickly. Join them at this unique race experience!
Starting and finishing at American Veterans Memorial Pier (69th Street Pier), this out-and-back course is fast and flat for its entire distance. Nestled along the water of Brooklyn's Upper Bay, you'll be treated to picturesque views of Verrazano-Narrows Bridge as well as Manhattan skyscrapers in the distance – an ideal opportunity to set a personal best time! This double-loop course makes an excellent opportunity to set personal records.
Route
Crissy Field runners begin their course surrounded by the iconic Golden Gate Bridge that can almost be touched! Your first mile hugs the water before going under and up over it before arriving in Sausalito where you experience gorgeous bay views, ocean breezes and the scent of Eucalyptus trees. From here the race winds its way through Presidio neighborhoods, Golden Gate Park streets and iconic Haight Street before moving onto Mission District and finally back home over Bay Bridge with one last lap into downtown San Francisco before finishing with a victory lap before crossing home at Crissy Field with huge smiles on your faces – you won't want to leave this race behind you!
This double-loop out and back course offers fast and flat terrain, making it the perfect place to set a personal record (PR). In addition, this race serves as an ideal training run ahead of New York City Marathon that takes place a month later.
Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K races are USATF certified events that provide Boston Marathon qualification opportunities. In 2019, the full marathon race will also serve as a USATF Road Championship qualifier!
Results
All runners will receive a digital timing chip to be attached to their running bib, similar to what was used at Olympic Trials and other high-level events. Results will be posted online as well as available at the finish line for viewing.
On the marathon course and 9 on the half course, there will be 18 water stations offering Nicolet Water and Gatorade Endurance Formula electrolyte drink; all will be staffed with volunteers trained to inform participants which product is available at each water station. Prevea Health medical support will be present throughout the race course at various intervals.
Shuttle bus departure will occur one-hour prior to wave start time. All runners must begin in their assigned waves as the buses cannot depart until all members of your group have boarded.

Start out in La Porte neighborhoods before hitting one of Texas' most distinctive structures, the Fred Hartman Bridge. Run over its eastbound span that is normally closed off for pedestrian traffic! At 4.35 miles long, this course provides participants with an unforgettable experience!
runners have their pick of three distance options for this year's run: 10-K, half marathon or full marathon. Both longer options cross the bridge twice; the half-marathon also takes in Oakland neighborhoods and organizers rate it as fast and flat. Both 5-K races can also be combined into a 3-race challenge event with special medals given out for completion of all three distances.
At Mile 3, there is a self-serve fluid station with multiple valves for fast water bottle fills – Camel-baks, Hydra Pouchs or any handheld container that fits comfortably in your hand will do.
Post-Race Celebration
Join your fellow runners for an after-race celebration featuring a beer garden and vendor village! Take in the views of Bay Ridge while relaxing and reconnecting with friends, family and fellow runners after your big day on course! We're delighted to introduce San Francisco Brewing Co as our official race beer partner this year and provide complimentary awards beers for all finishers!
At our inaugural marathon & half marathon, our aim is to take you on an extraordinary running tour through some of the city's most stunning parts. Starting in Crissy Field and crossing over Bay Bridge as close as you possibly can (it seems), Sausalito & Cavallo Point provide breathtaking vistas before returning back towards city center via neighborhood views.
After our half marathon, our full marathon will head west along Lake Merritt into Oakland and through West Oakland Historic District where you'll see its renowned cranes and hills before turning north up Broadway towards Oakland Technical Senior High School on an out-and-back route that includes slight uphill segments before crossing back over Bay Bridge connecting Oakland to San Francisco again but this time going downhill to reach our grand finale at Golden Gate Park.
