Abu Dhabi's largest community running event returns on December 17 with a marathon and marathon relay, 10km, 5km and 2.5km runs as well as fun runs.
This new route was specifically created to showcase the city's iconic landmarks, and is accessible for runners of all fitness levels – it is even wheelchair friendly!
The route
Organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council with Adnoc as its title sponsor, this event offers distances to fit every fitness level and ability. Distance options include 42km full marathon course; 21 km marathon relay with two participants each covering 21 km of distance – as well as 10 and 5 km family fun runs.
This year's race will boast many upgrades, such as a brand-new route spanning many of Dubai's iconic landmarks. Organisers promise an exceptional experience that showcases all that this great city has to offer.
Organisers of the UAE National Agenda 2023 also place increased emphasis on sustainability and community involvement; this new approach is expected to ensure more environmentally-friendly events while minimising waste.
Preparing for their big race day, runners can attend free training sessions in various locations before Wednesday, November 27. These sessions will focus on honing technique and building endurance – essential skills in preparation for such an endeavor as the marathon ahead. Furthermore, this event is accessible for people living with disabilities – support will be offered to ensure a successful finish line experience.

Your entry fee includes a race kit featuring an event t-shirt and timing tag; these kits can be collected between Monday, December 2 and Thursday, December 5 from the Event Village at ADNOC HQ South Plaza between Monday 2 and Thursday 5. Runners for marathon and 10 km races will start their runs directly from ADNOC HQ with views of the Founder's Memorial; shorter distance races start on 18th Street.

Organisers of the Adnoc Marathon have announced an array of exciting enhancements to this popular event. At its launch event at Adnoc Business Centre, Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced these alterations based on feedback from previous participants and members of the community.
These changes will ensure both runners and spectators enjoy race day even more, as the full marathon route will feature numerous new landmarks and the enhanced race village will provide more space to showcase London's leading sporting clubs, platforms, events and initiatives.
Participating runners of the full marathon will start from ADNOC HQ with direct views of the Founder's Memorial before passing some of Abu Dhabi's iconic landmarks such as Emirates Heritage Village, Qasr Al Hosn and Marina Mall before returning to Adnoc HQ event village and finishing at South Plaza of campus.
Shorter distance runners will start their races near Nation Towers on the Corniche Road and finish up at Al Marsa Street; 5km and 10km races both start/end at ADNOC campus.
At this year's ADNOC Tower race, those hoping to start early can take advantage of early start options available by parking their vehicles from 4am at the ADNOC Tower car park and using their P2 car parking sticker (available in their race kit) as entrance. Anyone wishing to use this option must leave plenty of time as its closing will occur at 6am.
The distances
On December 17th, ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 4 will return for a fourth edition. Runners can experience this year's marathon through an exciting route that passes many iconic Abu Dhabi landmarks such as Crown Prince Court, Al Bateen Palace, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Qasr Al Hosn and World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi – while shorter distance events take runners through stunning locations. The full distance marathon covers 42 kilometres while shorter events provide runners with unique experiences at multiple stunning locales along the course.
This year, organizers will invite athletes of all ages and abilities to compete in this year's race, expecting participant numbers to grow by 65% year over year. Furthermore, there will be various activities at this year's event that showcase UAE culture and traditions.

Pacing teams will also be present during your race to guide and lead you. They are easily identifiable as they wear shirts with pace signs to indicate their pace of running. In addition, medical support is offered at key points on the route and at both the start and finish lines, with a bus providing pickup services should anyone decide they wish to exit mid-race.
The race village
The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is one of the UAE's most exciting running races and attracts runners from around the world. Kenyan Timothy Kiplagat Ronoh won the men's elite race by over four minutes, followed by Eunice Chumba of Bahrain in second and Ethiopia's Adeledelew Mamo in third. Together, these runners received over AED 36 Million in prizes; winners from wheelchair and 10 km races will also receive cash awards.
Registration can be done online through the official website and includes an event t-shirt, race kit with timing tag and bib and access to additional t-shirts/items in the official race village.

Kenyan Daniel Kibet, winner of this year's Istanbul Marathon will take part alongside Dickson Chumba (Tokyo in 2015 and 2018, Chicago in 2015 and 2018), along with Adeladlew Mamo from Ethiopia – winner of this year's Seville Marathon – among many others.
