I’ll be honest. You have to have some form of physiological talent to run under 3 hours.

That being said, it is a small amount. What you had best hope you have far more in is heart and drive.

Talent that doesn’t work will get its rear end handed to it by someone who is willing to put in the work.

You cannot rely on your talent if you have any hopes of breaking the sub 3 marathon.

What Is The Key Strategy To Break 3 Hours?

This will not be a cookie-cutter 20 week marathon training plan.

I’ve worked with some of the world’s top coaches and elite marathon athletes.

How did I get from 2:43:36 to 2:19:35?

How do runners go from running 6:14 mile pace to 5:19 per mile pace for 26.2 mile distance.

Practice The Pace You Want To Race At

It may seem like common sense but this is where many runners get it wrong.

Quantity does not get results. Quality does. A sub 3 hour marathon is 6:50 per mile or 4:15 per kilometer.

Remember, keep in mind this is an average of 6:50 per mile or 4:15 per kilometer.

What that means is you have to accept the fact that many of your mile or kilometer splits are going to be faster than 6:50 mile pace and/or 4:15 per kilometer pace.

You don’t want to get caught up with mileage. Anyone can run a lot of mileage. The runners who get to the finish line under 3 hours are the ones who have prepared properly.
