I’ll tell you what I personally think of a 20 week marathon training plan.

It is too long of a training block.

Can you succeed at the distance training for 5 months?

I believe so but you had best be very careful.

I’ve broken the 2:20:00 marathon barrier and I can tell you that never in 26 years did I ever do a 20 week training block.

My sweet spot was 16 weeks.

4 months of proper training is more than sufficient time for you to absolutely crush your personal best at the 26.2 mile distance.

If I would advise anything if someone were to ask me about a 20 week block is this.

Jog for 4 weeks thinking nothing of pace whatsoever then get on one of my 16 week marathon training schedules and dominate the event.

I’m not saying 5 months is out of the question but would highly advise on a 16 week marathon training plan instead.
